about
Bret conceived this one a few years ago as a traditional ska track for another band he was playing with. They couldn't get it right, so he pulled the idea for a later project. We decided to give it a go in The End Times. Once in the studio, Casey took the wheel a bit, and it took an entirely new direction, and we couldn't be happier. We got John Roy involved, and he was able to produce exactly the horn part Bret wanted. Now we have The Melt.
lyrics
The Melt
It stated today - the revolution televised onto your tv
I saw it today - political scientists with goggles and test tubes
It stated today- private soldiers stomp their boots in your neighborhood
You say it’s all just the same - until their boots are stomping you...
Ugh
The tip jar was empty.
Their bellies all filled.
They torched the inn and marched on and on and on.
The fire spread endlessly.
They could feel it all around.
Until the smoke cleared no one could see.
We burnt our fortress to the ground.
It started today - digital bullies flex their muscles through broadband shields
And I’m sorry to say - their wholesale market of belief won’t impress you.
Oh, say, did you see?
It’s like they drew it up on blackboards in Hollywood.
And they defined where the truth lay.
Then refined it ‘cause they could.
Woah!
Now it’s melting all around.
Yeah, it’s melting all around.
Now it’s melting and we can’t escape ourselves.
Now it’s melting all around.
Yeah it’s melting all around.
Now it’s melting and we can’t escape our fate.
Sorry to say
But it started today
Yeah I’m sorry but we can’t escape our fate.
Sorry to say.
It started today.
Sorry to say.
Sorry to say...
Sorry to say
But we can’t escape our fate.
There’s silence in our hearts.
There’s silence in our hearts.
There’s silence and we can’t escape or fate!
